Robbery is a staple criminal activity in FiveM — but it's also where many new players get banned for rule violations. Here's how to rob properly, creating good RP while staying within server rules.
Store Robberies
Store robberies are the entry-level crime. Find a store, threaten the clerk, wait for the register to empty (usually a timer), and escape before cops arrive. Simple, but police respond quickly.
House Burglaries
House burglaries involve breaking into properties to steal valuables. You'll need lockpicks or special tools, time to search, and escape routes. Some houses are player-owned — be prepared for them to return mid-robbery.
Mugging/Robbery of Players
Robbing other players requires proper initiation. You must: make your intentions clear ('This is a robbery'), give them time to respond, and follow NVL rules if they comply. Don't just kill them and take stuff.
What You Can and Can't Take
Most servers limit what you can steal: cash, items in inventory, maybe weapons. You usually can't take everything someone owns or items they just purchased. Check your server's robbery rules carefully.
Robbery RP Tips
Good robbery RP includes: staying in character, creating tension through dialogue, allowing victims to RP their fear, and not dragging it out forever. The goal is creating a memorable scene, not just getting loot.
Consequences
Robbery crimes have consequences: police investigation, potential witnesses, victims who might remember your voice or vehicle, and sometimes revenge. Robberies create ongoing storylines, not isolated incidents.
